  • Half Life and DirectX 7

    Hey all,

    Just wondering if anyone else was having the following problem and possilbly had a cure. The game is faster in DX than openGL, but in DX I don't see the yellow flash of the engineer grenade or the white flash of the medics grenade or most decals. Is something not on?

    Hi SPSUguy,

    You are always going to see missing features in Half Life if you use DX. Their DX is nothing more than a wrapper, so some of the features are going to be unavailable. As far as performance, I see NOTHING wrong with my G400's performance in HL under OpenGL. It is quite fast. Maybe you need to tweak HL a bit to see if you can get it up to speed.
