  • How Do I Change The IRQ For theG400

I have been reading that a higer IRQ assignment might help with the card. When I try to change in Win 98 I get a message stating that I cannot change the setting. Also my bios (Award with MSI 6167 MOBO) doesn't appear to have an option. Any solutions?

    Hello Mick!
First: Change the physical position of the card = change to another PCI-slot.
Then restart W98 and check if the IRQ has changed. If it hasn´t try to change it. If you cant do it, you have to reconfigure it in BIOS.

    About the BIOS...
Strange...You SHOULD have an option in your BIOS to force a IRQ on a PCI-slot.

There's only one AGP slot, silly.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

The bios on my Aopen AX6BC has an option with which you can change the irq thats assigned to every pci slot and the agp slot.

Possibly your bios have this option as well. Look for a setting that has been set to "automatic" or something like that. Setting this to manual could reveal a whole new list of settings that will enable you to assign irqs manually. Anyway, thats how it works in my bios.

          SORRY!!!!
I dont know what happend, I think I lost my brain this morning. I anybody finds it, please email me!

OF COURSE THERE IS ONLY ON AGP.

I have answered questions about changing the IRQ on SB LIVE and i mixed my answers.
SORRY MICK, hope I didn´t leed you on the wrong way...

About YOUR problem... As I said before: You SHOULD have an option in your BIOS to force a IRQ on the AGP-slot.
It´s default to AUTO. Change this to the IRQ you want or as kakakoka suggested "manual" and reboot.

If you dont find that option, please post YOUR existing BIOS-options...maybe we can help you then...

          AGAIN SORRY!

Thanks for the suggestions, I got it to move to IRQ 9 by disabling a couple of IRQ's which forced it up. This only worked because I had enough free IRQ's to do this.
