Make sure that "read around write" is disabled in your BIOS.

Zwisch, I have used all thel latest patches for my motherboard, and I am running in 16 bit mode. How do I know if dual head is disabled?
I will try removing the config file later on!
I'm affraid I dont have any other Open GL games so I cannot test it =( I will borrow Half Life and post what happens asap!
I am downloading all of the LiveWare 3 files now - quite a hefty d/l and the server doesn't resume download!!!!

Rags, how do I do that?

It's pretty simple to do, just go into your system bios on power up by hitting your del key or whatever key you have to hit to enter your bios, then go into "Chipset features" or something like that and find the feature that says "read pipeline" or "read around write" and disable it, save your settings and exit the bios and boot up.

It was already disabled, so that wasn't the problem!

Quake 2 Hangs in OpenGL With My G400!

I have got problems with my g400 and running Quake 2 in open gl. Everytime I switch to open gl the screen just freezes and i have to restart my computer! The same is with Quake 3 - as soon as I join a game it just hangs =(

          My system:

          AMD K6-III 450 MHz
          128MB PC100 SDRAM
          Ultra DMA/66, 13.5 GB HD
          ATX Elite P5VP-A+ Motherboard
          SB Live! Value
          Internal PCI 56.6 V90 Modem
And of course the G400 Millennium 16MB Simgle head AGP!
I also use Windows 98 SE

I do not have a voodoo2 so their isn't a conflict there, there are no IRQ problems and I am running my G400 in AGPX1.

I have downloaded all the latest drivers for the g400 (PD 5.3, ICD Beta, Bios update) and I have also d/led the latest patch for my motherboard. Any idea's as too why I can't run Q2 in OpenGL??

            Hi,

Do you have the patches for your motherboard?
Are you running your desktop in 16 or 32 bit (not 24)?
            Is dual head disabled?
Did you try removing the Config.cfg file in your quake2/baseq2 folder and start the game again?
Does any other games work (openGL of course)?

BTW, do you have the latest LiveWare version from Creative Labs (you need to be higher than version 2.0)

If you are not sure if dual head is disabled then it probably isn't... to check this go to : Display properties - Settings - advanced - dual head.

I'm not sure, but probably your MoBo needs dedicated Busmatering & AGP drivers ...

I know you mentioned you had'em all, but you didn't list what 'all' covers for your system.

Maggi, I went to the VIA website and downloaded the 4 in 1 patch

Does anyone have my system? If so do you have the problem?

Also does anyone know if there are any mirrors for the Live!Ware 3 files cause the creative site doesn't resume downloading - and i cannot stay connected to the internet for a 20 meg d/l cause its too expensive (i live in the UK)!?

Is the Live Ware 3.0 CD avaliable in the UK? I spent the money for the CD and am glad I did. See my post in other thread for sys congig. I have everything running at fastest and enabled in BIOS. Have you updated to the latest BIOS for your mother board, and have you updated the the Matrox BIOS? I lost a lot of problems after updating the Matrox vidio bios. I am also running Win 98 SE

They do have the CD on sale - but i wil try and find someone to split the cost with first =)

I have updated both BIOS's - Q2 in open gl didnt work before and it still doesn't work!

Run it in D3D, it looks great and is smooth.

BTW Q2, Q3a, Q3demotest, Unreal, UT all run quite well in D3D, 32bit color, and everything on.

Try to use old Matrox drivers! I think there is a probleme with the Bus Master drivers!! Because I pick out my SBlive and it hangs up too. (Blue screen) .
