I get exactly the same, although there are
no other OpenGL entries in my Windows
    registry apart from Matrox's.

    I don't understand this

There's not even the slightest hint of a
Voodoo or any other Graphics card in my
registry ( and yes I know by heart how
to clear the registry from former entries).

    Can anybody help ???

I have removed all instances of any file 3dfx*.* from my windows\system and any reference to 3dfx from my registry. Still no luck.

        Tell us about your system.
ie. OS, G400 driver version & bios, other equipment.
Be of good cheer! We'll find it. The G400 does Q3 just fine. It's some setup problem.

ps Did you try going into safe-mode->control-panel->system-devices & seeing if you have extra vid drivers? Just delete all Display Devices that are not plain VGA or G400. (if any)

My bet is that it's not a P3 or Athlon...

I'm having the exact same problem. I've tried the "renaming" the opengl32.dll driver technique, but with no luck. What happens is that it seems to start loading, then crashes out to 640x480 w/ my colors all washed out.

            I'm running a pIII 500, ABit BE6 Motherboard, 128Mb RAM, and the g400 32Mb dual-head (not MAX )

Anyone who has overcome this problem, please let me know. I've tried the glsetup as well as TurboGL drivers and nothing seems to work.

              OK. personall experince talking here.

1.- When you install Q3demo, DONT copy the turboGL driver over. It has severall issues. Some peopel have gotten it to work by running the demo without turboGL, setting the display to 800x600x32x32 and THEN copying the turbogl driver over. However, if you run it right off the bat like so with turbogl, you get the washed out 640x480 desktop.

2.- If your using 2 monitors, thats another thing the new demo bitches about. Open up your display properties and DESELECT the "Spread desktop to this monitor" for your secondary monitor. Dont disable Dualhead. Just turn off the desktop on it.

3.- Again, even though it's been said 50 bazillion times, carefull with those "other" gfx card drivers that migth remain. Doesnt have to be a 3dfx file. Also TNT ones can cause issues.

              Hope this helps a bit.

if you are familiar with registry editing, go to the key

                HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\OpenGLDrivers

make sure the only entry is G400ICD

to regedit go to start/run and type regedit

Did you go into safe-mode and check system-devices to make sure you don't have an ATI device left hanging out in Display Devices?

How exactly do you plan on getting OGL Dual-Head out of a V3?
                              Just asking.
