Drakan.exe +fpstest, after test, read fps.txt in drakan directory.

    -g400DH32MB,PD5.30,P2 450Mhz, vsync off,Directx7

    1.1024x768 32bit bilinear,all settings ON and MAX,sound off
    27.3236 fps g400 not o/c FO=252, bump on
    30.4348 fps g400 o/c FO=293.14, bump on
    29.818 fps g400 o/c FO=293.14, bump off
25.846 fps g400 not o/c FO=252, bump on, sound on
25.6964 fps g400 not o/c FO=252, bump on, sound on, EAX 3d sound buffers on

    2. 1024x768 16bit bilinear,all settings ON and MAX,sound off
    29.2612 fps g400 not o/c FO=252, bump off
    31.7094 fps g400 o/c FO=293.14 , bump off

    -VOODOO2 SLI,Driver3.03,90Mhz,vsync off,P2 450Mhz,Directx7

    1. 1024x768 16bit bilinear,all settings ON and MAX,sound off
    35.208 fps voodoo2 sli not o/c
    36.8249 fps voodoo2 sli o/c 100Hz

    Have anyone different experiences??????

If you want to compare diferent video cards, use the same color depth... ooops, you canĀ“t!

What I meant is that I was more interested in a 32 bit color comparison. Ok, ok, you got me

But Drakan looks awfull in 16 bit color (the fog, the fog)

Lets not forget other things the G400 is doing that the Doodoo isn't in addition to EMBM and 32 bit, there's stencil buffered shadows, dynamic lighting, and I'm sure others.
Set them up identically (not just res/color depth/EMBM...if an option is not available for the V2, make sure it is off on the G400) and try again

Yep, I know 32-bit is eye candy (g400 has awfull 16bit-dithering) and voodoo2 does`t draw in 32-bit and EMBM and stencil buffer and ...., OK!, but G400 performance could be better than voodoo2 especially in DIRECT 3D.

Little about voodoo2 image quality: note that voodoo2 sli has worsened image quality "too badly 16bit dithering" than single voodoo2 at 800x600. It depends by RAMDAC hardware limitation"refresh rate" a framebuffer depth.

Heh ,DRAKANpatch 444 always crashes(desktop time for G400+EMBM) when I fight with old dragon (freezing breath).
              Benchmarking command freezes mostly too.

Kruzin I have one question for you, this is my letter to Matrox support about 3 week ago but no answer yet. help me.
              -------------------------------------------
              Dear Matrox Support,

Please help me solve my problem with video CARD MATROX MYSTIQUE 220 (MGA-1164SG). This card has worked without problems on my system for one year. Last week I turned on computer and heard one long beep. Monitor stayed in sleep mode.
During booting and DOS mode, Mystique220 card doesn`t provide display output (blank screen on my monitor). Card provides display output only in Windows98. According to your technical support FAQ it maybe a corrupted bios. It`s interesting that Matrox driver information table in windows 98 show me no number for bios and 135Mhz RAMDAC instead of 220Mhz.
I have tried to flash video bios with command "progbios -i 858-5.bin" in old DOS fashion, but with not success. I`m not sure, that the memory was flashed properly because screen was blank.
Could you give me some advices to this problem and please send me Emergency BIOS backup diskette files for my card.
              -----------------------------------------

              regards
              JOHN RAMBO

                JohnRambo-
That does sound like a BIOS problem. I have heard about it many times with the G200, but this is the first time I've heard of it on an older Mystique.

Hopefully, Matrox will be able to supply you with a BIOS repair file (I have no such beast myself). I would suggest trying tech support again (use North American ts, not European), or post that same letter in the Matrox Hardware forum, with Haig's name somewhere in the topic, explaining it's been weeks with no reply...

Thanks, but I used North American ts and no answer, today I try it again. I`ll send my letter to Matrox hardware forum.

Could you please explain the comment about the G400's horrible 16 bit dithering. I haven't noticed any problems with 16 bit graphics. In fact, I would expect that due to the G400's internal 32 calculations the 16 bit output would be very good. The only problems I see relate to texture/pixel popping and flashing, which happen regardless of colour depth.

So what am I not seeing here?

Have you voodoo2 or voodoo3 ? Could you compare 16-bit output from these cards.
Well, just I compared image quality from G400DH32MB with Voodoo2 and came to this conclusion. Voodoo2 dithers better than my G400.

                      I`m not alone, http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum4/HTML/001575.html

Thanks for the link John Rambo.

I will take a closer look. Could be that I am running with a small monitor and not noticing the dithering. Like I said before, its those damn flashing/popping textures that bug me.
Does Kruzin have any comments about the dithering issue?
