  • G400 and Half-Life performance?

    Mikko,

Seems odd. Even prior to the TurboGL drivers, I was able to play TFC at 1024X768 in OpenGL with my G400Max with smooth internet play (~30 FPS).

    G400 and Half-Life performance?

I have tried almost everything to get a decent framerate in Half-Life (1.0.1.3) but no luck. Blowup.dem gives about 20fps (800x600, OpenGL) - it is not just enough for AHL multiplayer mode...
    My home rig:
    DualBoot Win98/W2K Prof RC2
    Abit BP6 + 2xCeleron366@560MHz
    128MB/10GB IBM HD/G400 DH 32MB

I have tried following things to get maximum performance when playing HL:
    a) autoexec.cfg by Kruzin
    b) overclocking G400 to 120%
    c) optimized Windoze settings

DualHead and EBMP are pretty cool features and I am satisfyied with D3D performance compared to G200 (app. 65% faster in 3DMark99 MAX)... but poor performance in HL is really pissing me off. Any suggestions?

I got at least 50 fps with my :
      Celeron 300A@464MHz, SBLive!, 128Mb

Blowup is a very cpu taxing benchmark, not really a video card benchmark. It will give around 20 fps with almost every videocard out there... It´s a worst case scenario, really...
