  • G200 is slow fullscreen...

Greetings from the Desktop Video forum!

I am a novice at all things hardware-related, but something tells me that when DirectX goes full screen my graphics performance should be faster than in a window... BUT everything DirectX I run runs faster in a maximized window at 1280x1024 than it does in "fullscreen" at 640x480. What the hey?

I noticed this on my old P150 before I moved to my new PIII 550 MHz , but I'm still getting the problem.

    Marvel G200-TV PCI 8MB untweaked
    PD 5.30, DirectX 6 or 6.1

(Does it have something to do with the Microsoft HQL certification? 'Cuz DXDIAG reports two of my drivers are uncertified...)

    Thanks,
    fluggo99

No offense, but shouldn't the acceleration work without all that stuff? I mean, do I really need a cooling fan and a tweak utility to get decent performance out of a $300 card? I mean, come on!

I already have the latest PowerDesk and unified BIOS and all that jazz; I'm running DirectX 6 and I'm really not interested in DirectX 7. What else could be wrong? Why does everything get slower in fullscreen (DirectDraw exclusive) mode?
