  • Anyone tried Ultima IX on a G400?

I'm getting Ultima IX soon, and I haven't seen any info on how well it works on a G400. Seems that many people with anything other than one of those 3dfx abominations are having some troubles with it, according to the Origin message boards. No one has said anything about having a G400, though, mostly just TNTs. Anyone here tried U9?

Ultima looks great on a PII-450 & G400 with all game's options maxed in 1024x768x32 (and higher). Framerate is pathetic in 640x480. Try custom install (appr. 1.5GB) and make your swap file permanent

So you're saying that it PLAYS better at 1024x768x32, or that it just LOOKS good there?
I'll be sure to do a custom install with all the options selected, and my swap is set to a static 180 megs already. I'm eager to see this. Maybe if I'm lucky, a patch will already be out by the time I get it (Christmas). Yeah, right...

UIX does not play good at 1024 32bbp on the G400. The graphics are buggy as a mofo

Hi all! I don't think the graphics are bad. In fact the game looks pretty wonderful when played on a G400 MAX. Nevertheless, no currently available processor would be powerful enough to provide smooth gameplay with D3D. By the way we G400 owners are much more happier than those with GeForce cards cause they are not able to launch the game at all.
          Best wishes.

Yeah, that's what I hear as well. I've owned every nVidia card up to the TNT, but I'm quite happy that I decided to buy a G400 MAX over a TNT2, even if it was a bit pricey direct from Matrox. Haven't had a single problem since!
Hopefully the upcoming D3D patch for U9 will take care of D3D issues for eveyone, though.
