  • Unreal Tournament Incredible!!

With all the posts about the Max needing a P3 I wasn't sure it would run well on my machine! I am truly amazed. I ran 1024by768, 16 bit and high settings. My PC is a P2 400, 128mg, Matrox Max, I am starting to feel much better about this card!

Cool then it should run just as well on my K6-2 450 128 megs Sdram, G400 32 meg (non-max) When my card comes in on Monday that is

Well I hope you have better luck than me. At 800X600 32-bit color it runs at 60+ fps, but when the action gets interesting (5-6 players on screen all unloading their guns) the framerate drops to under 15! Is this still a Matrox driver problem (or hardware problem - ouch!) or an unoptimized Unreal game engine...

Hey man don't freet! Check this out www.voodooextreme.com/reverend

This guy (the Rev) has a timedemo called wicked400. check this out!

          He has a P3 500 O/C to 620
          384MB PC133 ram
          Voodoo 3500 clocked to 200mhz

And he gets 24.51 fps @800x600 with every thing on high...
I get 18 with the same test

Its not your drivers its the CPU hog called UT!

Maniac, id say its un-optimized code along with the current powerdesk?
i couldnt run quake3 1.08 and 5.25 in 32bit without a MASSIVE performance hit on my Marvel
              Slideshow time

but the latest quake demo is fine in 1024x768 32bit, everything on, i get just under 30fps min in demo1 on my Marvel G400

im hoping itll be the same for U T when a later version and new drivers cum out.
(UT is the only unreal engine game that runs ok, Nerf and Wheel of Time are very choppy)

If you havent yet, check out the G400 tweaking guide thats linked to on the news page, that can only help :O)

Well running UT at 1280x1024 16 bit all graphic quality to high and breezing along at a nice 38FPS

                  System:
                  K6-2 450
                  128 megs SDRAM
OEM G400 32 meg AGP non-max not overclocked (but still has the 5ns sgram lucky me )

                    WHAT THE HEY!!!!
I dont know how or why but now UT flies in 32bit in 1024x768, a little slower in a crowded firefight but only in the drop from 60+ to 30+ frames per second

                    5.41 drivers perhaps???
Quake performance has gone up too....
and now i canget fullscreen on my Tv-out too.....

ohh My Marvel has cum of age :O)
                    (gush)
