I installed these drivers on a fresh install of W2K RC2, and quake3demo(final) runs fine, about the speed of q3 in NT4sp5. The problem I'm having is that almost everything I can try that requires directx7 locks the system up. The UT demo hangs at the menu screen, and the messiah demo is hopeless. Older things seem to work, however. Any ideas?

I'm running build 2151 until I can track down the rest of build 2183. THANK YOU MATROX!!!!! It's off topic, but does anyone know if the SB128 PCI sound problems are fixed in later builds? I'm gettin all kinds of snaps crackles and pops. And I don't eat Rice Krispies.

I'm running RC2 (build 2128) and the Final Q3 demo runs ok. But only when I type map q3dm1 or something to start a map. I can't get into any of the submenus. The screen becomes garbled when I do that.

        Strange.

well, rc2 here with g400 dh, not max... and as of last night i guess i got lucky, and q3a (final version i bought yesterday along with ut) is working fine in opengl... and ut is running great, except forlong lags i have in it when it is loading.. i was having problems with ut in d3d mode, but when i changed from 1024x768 to 1280x1024, everything seems to have started working fine.. so i am guessing that the drivers seem to work properly, just they can be tricky or something, i dunno, just stating that there is hope for these drivers...

Well, I've spent an enjoyable evening getting rid of win98 and clean installing Windows 2000 RC2. I've now tried out System Shock 2.
Running the install with setup.exe -lgntforce will install the game, then you need to apply the patch. Unfortunately when you finally start a new game a hidden message is shown stating 'Your video hardware is unsupported' and it dumps back to the desktop.
I see that some people are having trouble with SS2 and the latest driver on win98, so hopefully a driver fix will cure this.

Ok, a followup - do you all realize that RC2 isn't really DX7 compliant, and RC3 is? Just a thought. It would explain why some of you are having major problems. I'm not advocating anything (certainly RC3 isn't a public beta, so you can't really get it 100% legitimately, but...)
