  • Opengl drivers need work.

The current state of the Matrox Opengl driver is not up to snuff. On a P3-450/G400 Max playing Quake 3 Arena release (with everyting maxed out) I am only getting 20.1 fps at 1024x768. The G400 Max chipset is should be capable of at lease 30 fps with a P3-450. I think that Matrox needs to talking to the public about driver release specifics and not give us the corporate mumbo jumbo. AKA Diamond Multimedia.

    Thanks,

    Sean

    Hrm?

I've got a Celeron 550 and in Q3 I'm pushing an easy 30fps in 1024x768 with everything turned up.

Everything runs great on it except for Half-life which is a dog (relatively speaking)

      Hi Eric,

Are you running Quake 3 Arena full release with all the settings manually turned up? I am not talking about just choosing high quality settings. Turn up the texture quality to max and trilinear filtering on. Are you overclocking? I am not. If I had a bigger CPU I would get some additional fps. Lastly, sorry for the typos in my first post. I am often writing these messages in the evening. I am getting 19.1 fps on the TurboGl ICD and 20.9 on the OpenGL full ICD.

      Thanks,

      Sean
