  • Problems With New G200 Drivers

I have got the new 5.41 G200 drivers and when I installed them and ran a timedemo on Quake3 I get this wierd stuttering avery 5 seconds or so, which i'm also getting in the game. I Did a timedemo of q2 as well and again the stuttring is still there, only not quite as obvious. Has anybody else had this problem, and has anyone got any ideas how to fix it ??? Its a bit annoying because these new drivers look a fair bit faster than the old 5.30 ones when its not stuttering and i'm getting the same fps even with the stutters.

The stuttering/slowdowns is a known issue with PD5.xx series. I haven't yet tested the 5.41 but if you still have those stutters I could even guess I will too have them. Some people have those stutters with good and working systems and some people do not. It's quite a mystery why it is happening.

Are the new drivers working on a Celeron, or is it only for P3 users?

Checked the 5.41 and it stutters like the other 5.xx versions. The stuttering is beginning to be a feature of Matrox Windows drivers.

Durango, yep, 5.41 contains just bug fixes (and still misses some bugs), no new features whatsoever. The green transparent boxes which were visible in Q3A have gone atleast.

I've been messing about and i have finally managed to get the new drivers working on my compy witout any stuttering. What i did was extract the setup files as normal then right click on my computer->properties->display adaptors->G200 and then updated the drivers from there using windows. They now seem to work fine i have got an increase in FPS and Q3 looks even better than it did before. I guess there is something wrong with the setup program they have included with the new drivers. Hope that helps fix the problems other ppl are having.

Since Haig is on vacation this week, there might not be anyone (Matrox person) reading the forums this week.

Perhaps us G200 owners would get an "official" fix more quickly if we all submit the problem to the tech support...

I had the same problem with my Matrox Mystique G200, but I fixed it by hitting Control-Alt-Delete and terminating Pdesk.
The "pauses" seem to go away and everything works fine, but Pdesk tries to sneak back into your tasks after awhile, so be sure to keep it dead
