  • I keep getting booted from games. Help!

I am trying to narrow this problem down so I can hopefully fix it. The problem is that when I play almost any 3d game I get booted out. It is not so much as when, because there are times when I play for an hour and there are times that play for 3 min. The games I play are as follows: Midtown madness, NFS 3, Mech W3, Rouge Spear.
I have a G400 running at 145/193 I use a PIII 450@558 2.2v.124fsb 224mb PC-100 ram on a BP-6 mobo.Temp is under 40C. The G400 is fanned also. I use the 5.30 Pdesk. Win 2ed.I have kids and there are some minor scratches on the disks, but I have tried new disks with the same results. Any pointers, guesses, or fixes would be great!

Does it still crash if you don't overclock everything?

Try increasing your swap file size. I had the same problem with certain games (ie. NHL 2000 and Need for Speed IV). Hope this helps!

            Hi

Was this your first GFX card on tha machine?
You might have old stuff lying around in there. they will show up in the following steps.

Check this: (BTW, if you mess up... you clicked... I didn't... but I do this almost every day)

Restart in safe mode (they won't show in normal mode)
            go to the device manager
click open every thing EXCEPT the "System Devices" (you don't wanna play in that one)
If in one of these devices you have multiple entries of the same thing, delete them all.
If you have some of those "!", start fixing.

Then, the story of my life, restart.

Be prepared to feed your PC with all the driver's CDs and diskettes.

            Have fun
