About AGP texture memory size
How large is optimal for G400? 64MB, 128MB or even 256MB
is it the larger the better?

It's depending on your memory configuration. Most of people agree on must be the half of your physical memory. But with TurboGL you must set 128 or higher as explained in readme.txt
