G400max and Quake2

Hi guys!

i just updated from my S3virge/voodoo2-combo to a g400 max. but when i play quake2, it is a bit slower than before! in the benchmarks i get less fps! i think that this is because of my old Q2-config, which i got from 3fingers' homepage. it was especially optimized for voodoos.
so does anybody have an good q2-config for a g400 (only the gl_-stuff is interesting)?

Are you using TurboGL or the ICD?

If memory serves me correctly, the 3Fingers config is a "highest visual quality" configuration.

The G400 output should look better without all the tweaks. You could start from scratch, with no visual tweaking (other than some *console* manipulated brightness/gamma setting changes), and everything should look quite nice.

What resolution do you use? TurboGL works best, as far as I know, in lower resolutions. Some people have reported performance decreases, when comparing TurboGL to the ICD, at higher resolutions.

Kruzin, Matrox beta tester and MURC moderator, recommends the following settings:

set intensity "1.0"
set vid_gamma "0.9"
set gl_modulate "3.5"
set gl_saturate "0"

If you're not using TurboGL, and you want to, make sure you get rid of all your Voodoo drivers and registry settings.

i'm using the new turboGL.
it's not that quake2 doesn't look good (i have already done the tweaking of brightness and stuff). what i actually want to know is how i could best configure all these other GL-settings, like for example "gl_playermip", "gl_ztrick", "gl_texturealphamode" etc.

btw, 3fingers offered 2 different configs: the one you mentioned ("highest visual quality") and another one, optimized for performance on voodoos. i used the second one.
