  • No TurboGL for me...

I can't run the TurboGL driver at all. When I try to play a game, it locks up at the Loading... screen and I have to reset.

I've got all the latest drivers, bios, etc. I've done all the things suggested (mb BIOS changes). No IRQ sharing, etc.

Can anyone give me any ideas? The one thing I haven't tried is using 5.3 drivers with the new TurboGL because 5.3 caused shutdown lockups on my machine.

I typically run my games at 1280x960ish so perhaps I'm not missing anything not using the TurboGL. The games are very playable with the regular GL driver, just curious what, if anything, I'm missing not using the Turbo driver.

I play Half-Life, OpFor, TFC, and Quake 3 (poorly, I might add).

    Thanks!

You might still be interested, as the Turbo GL has shown significant improvements for all te games ive tried it with. Did you set your AGP aperture size to 256mb (dont worry if you dont have that much ram)?

I can only set the aperature to 128 - that's the highest setting my BIOS will allow.

there is a known problem on some SS7 boards when trying to use TGL with PD5.41.

Matrox is working on that and it should be fixed in the next release of PD.

Until then you really should try PD5.30, because I saw several people posting, that they had about the same probs as you described and switching back to PD5.30 made them happy and they now use the TGL ...

I'll try the 5.3 drivers again. AFTER I take the backup, I'll keep my fingers crossed for no shutdown lockups.

          Thanks for the quick replies!

            wait a minute ...

did you already try to force AGP1x ???

could help you to gain stability with PD5.41 ...

Yep - tried just about everything I've read on the boards.

I'm about to start trying different sacraficial rituals...
