Slightly out of date now, I know, but I'm mildly confused by the DMZG benchmark system, with which I was fiddling yesterday. The reported framerates (maximum, minimum etc) appeared identical (about 8-48fps) at 640x480x16, 800x600x32 and 1024x768x32. Has the whole world gone mad?

That´s because DMZM was made to show up Nvidia G-force T&L engine. As the G400 (I assume you are using one?) doesn´t have T&L capabilities, all that stuff is done in the cpu. So, basically the video card is just iddle most of the time waiting for the cpu to calculate T&L and to send the results so it can render the scene. That´s why 640x480 or 1280x1024 doesn´t matter, the polygon calculations are the same no matter the screen res, and the performance will roughly be the same until the res is so high that fill-rates is the limiting factor.
