  • Some Probs with Wheel of Time

Here's the deal. At 800x600x32 it is a little choppy (should I turn off vsync and if so how?) but when playing UT (I mention this only because they are based on the same engine as I'm aware) I can go well above 1024x768x32 and still get average of 28 fps. Am I stupid? Please clarify. Thanks

K6(3)- 300 (makes no difference if I oc it)
    196 megs PC100 ram
    G400 MAX
    6 gig main drive
    20 gig secondary
    DVD ROM
    32x CD-ROM
and a bunch more crap that slips my mind now...

Is your monitor's refresh rate 85 Hz? If it is, I strongly suspect Vsync is the problem.

There are a couple ways to disable Vsync on your G400. Matrox has an overclocking utility that allows you to disable or enable Vsync with a simple check-off box. Also, there are registry hacks available that will disable Vsync in your Windows registry. (There are a bunch of them zipped together in a single file.)

Both are available on MURC. You can also get the overclocking utility on Matrox's site if you wish.
