  • How to get NFSHS to like G400?

    Hi Technoid,

Yes, there is. NFSHS wanted to do only software render for me as well. However, you can specify which 3D mode to use by running Start -> Programs -> Electronic Arts -> Need For Speed High Stakes -> 3D Device Setup. Tell it to use Direct3D. It may moan a bit saying that it might not be the best option, but it will run OK.

Software rendering sucks. At first I thought that it was doing Direct3D so I told it to do me at 1024x768x32. *ouch* That hurts in software.

That did the trick for me. The 3D device setup will say that it doesn't recognize the card as one that it thinks can handle it. You have to assure it that it can. If that doesn't do it, I dunno what to try next.

From my experience, NFS:HS hates overclocked fsb´s and g400 and specially video shadowing
but in my case i have to say that my troubles ended when i installed pd5.41 so it can also be the case of a badly uninstalled previous pdesk

NFS III & HS are two of my favorite games. The problem is, they run WAY better in Glide. This is the ONLY reason I keep my V2 sli cards installed, along with the G400 Max.

                I got it to work!
                BUT ONLY IN 640*480!!!
And i have to set desktop resolution to that to even get in to the game!

PD5.41 dident work with my RRG when i had a G200, so i haven't tryed it again!
Have any one else got that kombination to work?
(apart from that everything works even tvout despite that i have the macrovision crack :-))

Don't know what's wrong yith your system, but I installed it yesterday and it runs more than fluid in D3D at 1024x768x32bppx32bZ with triple buffering and all settings to max quality ...

I know Maggi, he had to ask... but I gotta ask as well... is it with standard 5.41, or with any beta-PD (if you can tell the difference) ??

                      EUREKA!

It was related to my shell!
I use Litestep and the resent build has some anoying issues!
and im going back to a more stable revision!
With explorer i have no problems, but explorer is even more buggy in other departments!

I have problems with this one too.. No matter what res I put the game in it seems to have the same slow frame rate.
What version of powerdesk are you useing Maggi?
Is there a PowerDesk setting that will help it run more smoothly?

                          Try this.....

check in the registry that on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ELECTRONIC ARTS\3D DATA\CARD6 it shows Group "D3D" and Name "Matrox G400"
If anything else shows there, change it to Matrox G400.

                          It worked for me!
