I read the other post ref Q3 and Athlon / G400MAX combination, a bit naughty to start a new thread but I am on the verge of putting my TNT2 ULTRA back in and selling the G400MAx on to someone. here we go then.
I have an Athlon 600 @ 850MHZ, have an MSI 6167 Mainboard, all shadowning is off in Bios and am running a 256MB AGP apt. I have the latest AMD AGP patch installed, Powerdesk 5.41 (drivers only powerdesk disabled) the new TurboGL, Matrox overclock running at 110% and have what most would describe as a potent system.
3D Mark 2000;
1024 x 768 @16bit everything
G400MAX 2555 3dmarks
TNT2 U 2985 3dmarks
Q3 (patched to point release2)
1024 x 768
32 bit colour
32 bit textures
geo medium
texture quality medium on slider
demo001
G400 MAX = 29.8FPS
TNT2 U = 54.6FPS
Dropping to 800 x 600 leaving all other settings the same the G400 only gains another 3.6FPS
I love the features of the G400 and have just ordered a bloody 17" monitor to make use of the dualhead features, but it just looks painfully slow compared to my TNT2 ultra.
Any help anyone might have / suggestions etc would be warmly recieved, hopefully before my spare PC I am knocking together "warmly" receives the G400, and the TNT2 goes back into the beastie.
Thanks Guys
Tony
