quake2 is too dark

whenever i play quake2, some of the maps are WAY too dark, and i can barely see a thing, is there a command i can use to brighten things up to the way they should look!
i have a g400 32mb card and 128mbram
pentium3 500mhz

At the console, enter the following commands:

intensity 1.0
vid_gamma 0.9
gl_modulate 3.5
gl_saturate 0

Some of these setting are already at the values above, but I forget which.

In any case, these settings were brought to us by moderator/Matrox beta tester/HardOCP Matrox defender, Kruzin.
