Nice one Matrox! You release some new (admittedly beta)drivers and one of the most common gripes about the last release of the drivers... still hasn't been fixed. Way to go guys. Let's just hope the released version fixes the problem.

If any of the Matrox support group read this post , I would like to add my vote for a speedy resolution of the Thief series/SS2 problems. I love my G400 but it irks me that I can't play one of my favourite games at the same time I'm playing Half Life or Unreal, the way they should be played. Please don't forget the Thief fans!!

Count me in also.
But they know it and it will be addressed i'm sure (at least I hope). Don't forget that these (5.50) are beta and not final version, so there is room for improvment.
Let's hope.Athlon64 4800+

I didn't think these beta drivers were a bug fix release, although, from what I understand, a couple of issues were addressed, a couple of things appear to be broken.
I think these are a beta version of Matrox's upcoming DirectX 7 drivers, and as both Ant and Kruzin pointed out, they are more "beta" than usual. They are a "find the bugs" and issue a bug report to Matrox release.

You may have read this before but I can play Theif and System Shock 2 just fine using the 5.30 drivers on my G400Max. I was one to always get the latest drivers but since I swapped my TNT2Ultra for this one I have studied up and found these drivers to be stable. I play these games alot since. I have no other troubles with any other game except Tribes. I then run it with my Voodoo2 SLI setup that I got for 40$.
Why don't you try this route until it's fixed?
(I mean the drivers not necessarily the Vooodoo's)

After switching to drivers version 5.3, I'm actually able to play System shock 2, but it crashes right after it's done loading the second level (after the training stage). I've always gotten the same effect on all OpenGL games, but I believe SS2 is Direct3D. WTF?

I have both thief, SS2, UT and Q3A and would like to use only one driver. I'll probably buy Thief 2 which I believe will have the same issue with the new drivers.
Matrox please pull your finger out and get it fixed...."Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day"
