  • Quake 3 problems

Hello everyone. I'm sorry to post this a bit
out of place. But I dont know anywhere else
    to get help.

Quake 3 keeps craching on me and I think
it is my Creative SB64 value that is
the bad guy. Because when I disabled it
in the system ref. Quake worked great.
But playing without sound is NO fun.

    My sytems is:
    P2 300
    P2B rev.1011
    64 RAM
    Matrox G400 DH 32
    Matrox RRG-
    Canopus PURE3D 2
    Creative SB64 value
    WIN98 SE
    Latest directx and latest drivers.

    Please help me out.

Does your Pentium II have a Deschutes or Klamath core? There's a utility on Intel's site for indentifying your processor.

I think, and I could be wrong, that you're having a resource problem. You're using a relatively slow processor, a soundcard that might be a bit of a CPU hog, and a videocard that likes to off-load work to the processor.

Or you could be having a driver conflict.

Get back to us on your processor's core. If it's a Deschutes PII 300, and depending on how adventurous you want to be, there might be a cheap way to cure your potential resource problem.

I havn't had time to check to core yet.
But innstalled UT last night and it played
great. I cant understand why Quake should have resource problems when all my other games work, like Specops 2 and Rogue Spear.

But I will check the core.

Also. That Haig is an monster. 1 kill to his
      30. uhhh.
Even if that was my first play ever with UT,
      it wasn't very good.
Better pratice a bit more to beat him
