  • How to run Half-Life/Q3 in Win2k

    Alrighty, next question

How do you get Half-life to run in win2k? When I want to configure my video-mode ingame, it tells me I don't have any OpenGL card installed. I use the same Half_life folder/.exe I installed in win98 with TGL.

Q3 tells me the same. I heard win2k doesn't come with OpenGL, but I've seen posts claiming people get it to run very well.

    Any ideas?

    Thnx!

Hmm, I did a search and read you have to delete/rename the TurboGL .dlls. I'll try it as soon as I get home. Yes I'll search first before posting next time.

Any more tips for gaming with G400 in win2k?

First of all make sure you have Build 2195 of Win2K, or at the very least RC3. Install the beta win2k g400 drivers.

Rename the TurboGL's opengl32.dll in the game folders to something else.

Start the game. (For HL, select OpenGL.)

Try playing the game. Notice how terrible it is.

Quit the game. Reboot to Windows 98. Rename the TurboGL DLL's back to opengl32.dll. Enjoy the games. And keep waiting for better Win2k drivers.
