  • Matrox server and UT levels

To the people administrating the server, please take a look at a user level found at http://sunsite.doc.ic.ac.uk/packages...alicity/utctf/
the map name is CTF-hallofgiants and it better than all of the retail CTF map put together.
My suggestion is to add this map to the CTF list in the server

            Hi guys, I'm Darth Mahl....LOL

Sorry andrei I'm still trying to get used to playing with my Trackman Marble FX. Sometimes when I spin that trackball I don't know where I'll end up...Usually off the map...LOL

Paul - have you been peeking at my system... Seems like any time I get some new piece of HW, it shows up at your place sooner or later..... <LOL>

Anyway, love the marble FX, have used mine for about 4 months now.. Am still getting the hang of it in UT... Need a way to run faster - get ahead of them rockets...

You're right, spinning aint the problem, it's controlling the stop...

Guyv - gettin' dizzy spinnin his wheels...

                Hey Guyver,

I've had mine since they first came out ~1.5 years or so. It's my favorite for graphics stuff. I've tried to avoid using it for games except with UT and Q3 I'm forced to use it. I actually play a mean Q2 game with a joystick.

I still need to configure my controls better for UT. Except I'd rather just play than mess with the setup.

                  Paul,

Switched from the old original Trackman marble - bought 2 the first week they were out... I think they work pretty well for the gaming, especially with the tweaked PS/2 port sampling.

I use a modest key config, but it needs some improvement..

                  I currently use...

                  Q - strafe left
                  W - move forward
                  E - strafe right
                  S - move backwards
                  TAB - Jump
                  CapsLock - Crouch

(steering and aiming is done via the mouse)

                  Left click, primary fire
                  Right click, alternate fire

                  I'm sure there's more I could do...

How in the heck can you play with a Marble Trackman FX. I use one at work and have tried to use it in 1st person shooter but can't seem to keep from looking at the ceiling when attempting to look at this or that. What I can't seem to get out of a Marble, that I can get out of a regular mouse, is with a reg mouse, when I want to spin, the motion of the mouse is restricted to a horizontal plane(desk, or table). This keeps a certain degree of control when freelooking and tracking targets. With a Marble however, if I attempt to spin 180 degrees, for instance, quickly moving the Marble in the desired direction lacks the slight restriction found in a regular mouse which, for me, prevents me from tracking my target as precicly as need. How the heck are you guys doin it?
                        I'm outta' breath.

In Q2 I can manage with the Joystick for moving and turning but have to stop and hold a key down for the "Freelook" function. UT and Q3 are much faster and have more vertical levels which means you get fragged if you have to stop to do anything.

I actually suprised Kruzin at the MURC Lan party with my ability to play Q2 with the joystick.

It's about time I retired the joystick and get with the times...LOL

Just a quick regression back to the original topic. I've played HallofGiants (by the way, it's a CTF map), but unless there's a lot of people playing (like 10 - 16) it just seems way too big.
Most of the times I've visited the Matrox server we're more like 4 - 8 people at any one time -- and seldom is it in CTF mode.

                              Antlergoat...

It appears that you have NT when it comes to the Marble FX..

Hint: NT does not mean what you think it does....
