  • Vsynk ???

I hear all this talk about disabling vsynk. What is it and what is done by disabling it. I am using a g400 MAX 32mb Duel head on a Athlon 600.

    Thanks.. Ira

    VsynC:
    Vertical Synchronization.
Also know (in Matrox terms) as "flip on vblank"

Vsync will sync your games frames with your monitor's refresh rate. So, if you are running your monitor at 75Hz, the most you can get with vsync enabled is 75 FPS. By disabling vsync, you can get more FPS, but may experience visual tearing in games (the top of the screen looks like it's not always matched up to the bottom half).

To disable it, download the Matrox Tweak utility, or the registry hacks from the murc d/l pages (or any number of other utils that can do the trick...)

So, what would you advise to do? Disable it, or enable it?

Try them both, pick the one you prefer.
I run with it disabled, but I do not get much tearing with my monitor's high refresh. Many people see tearing that they find unacceptable, so they chose to enable it...
