Half Life shows an incredible amount of shearing, shimmering walls and floors and jagged edges up UNTIL I pick up the crowbar. Shearing and shimmers then disappear and game play is solid. This is one happy gamer!
I have been playing with autoexec.cfg files from tweak3d, Kruzin's mix, Matrox tech support, PCGamer in an attempt to get rid of the nastiness in the beginning of the game.
Would there be any differrence in the effects of the same cfg file if it is loaded as HL\Valve\autoexec.cfg or in HL\Valve\HW\ as opengl.cfg?
I have actually managed to lose the shimmers and shearing with one cfg file but the game then kicks me out to the desktop at exactly the same point in Unforseen Circumstances.
Any comments?
