Any problems with 5.5?

Just curious. I totaly understand it is beta. Thats why i havent installed it yet. So i was wondering what the bugs are? Particualy for BX users (SS7 has enough problems, that i dont care about. thats why i upgraded! ). How does DualHead work. Any game incompatiablilites. Right now everything runs great on 5.41, but if 5.5 has a faster ICD, and will work fine in a BX system, then im all for updating. Thanx for any help/flames that i get.

The games that I tried ran fine, but there seems to be a font "eating" problem, with time pieces of fonts disappear.

The ICD in 5.50 is quite fast (on par with TurboGL), BUT, any openGL game or app will give you an error when you exit, then you will have to reboot before any 3d (OGL or D3D) will work again...

Kruzin..Is Q3A OGL?? I got the 5.50, and I NEVER crash, but Q3A is all I run as far as games. OGL screensavers, etc. don't crash...5.50 are the bomb for me. I agree that 5.50 ICD is on par w/TGL..search the thread on Q3DM9 problem to see the BM I got

Yes, Q3A is OGL.
If you are using the beta5.50 drivers, and not getting errors when exiting the game, you are (a)using the TurboGL, or (b)very lucky, because it gives almost everyone these errors.

I using Driver 5.50 also. I hv not encountered any serious problem also. So far, i quite liked the new driver as a matter of facts. I hv'nt benchmark the driver so far. But UT and Q3A(TurboGL) run fine.

5.5 beta drivers are da bomb.

D3D performance jumped about 25% for me, i can now run UT in mid skin/32 bit with the same framerates as 5.30 on low skin/16 bit.

Q3A Runs faster than TGL for me, with no errors, but then again TGL never did work for me in Q3A, so i uninstalled it shortly after, and then later went with 5.5

Unless if you play Half Life online, or some other OGL games (and as long as you're not stupid enough to be running UT in OGL), then you should be using these drivers. Dualhead clone doesnt seem to work when running some games, but oh well.

Cool! This is what i wanted to here. I play UT most of the time, and i only play q3/Half Life at lan parties (which are every friken weekend now for some reason... ) Thanx guys, ill let you know if i run into any problems, especally using dual monitors. I use dual monitors ALL the TIME. Currently i havent had a crash since i re-installed about 3 weeks ago. Before i was crahing all the time... Do the 5.5 drivers speed up my wU's for SETI@Home? j/k!!!

I installed 5.5 on my system, and had problems, so used the uninstall util to blow it and then installed the 5.3 + TurboGL again, and ever since after I play UT the machine crashes on exit. Any ideas?

I had the 5.5 drivers installed with my G200 and my system tray kept dissappearing and reappearing all the time (every few seconds).
Maybe this is why they werent officially released for the G200... I just copied the install.inf out of the 5.41 drivers and presto, cuz all the files are there...

Pair the 550 with the Beta UT d3d.drv or whatever and see both performance raise and Zbuffer problems decrease.

I guess I'm lucky. I haven't had any problems with the beta 5.5 drivers, aside from some occasional visual weirdness in UT (e.g., the moon in facing world now looks horrible...divided into quadrants, really jagged edges; but who's looking at the moon!). I installed them just for fun, and they work fine for me.
