  • Planescape: Torment.

This game is simply brilliant. I know its not a g400 enhanced game and it doesn't use 3d acceleration but I would recommend anyone that is a fan of story driven RPG's to buy this game. The character development and NPC interaction is great with an excellent plot. Anyway, enough of that.....

Yes, PS:Torment is a great game, more focused on the main character than Baldur's Gate was, and with a better plot (the end is actually one of the best I've seen in a computer game so far).
The visuals are simply brilliant, and the spell effects are very nice. I like the mood of the game, very far from the usual Nice-Land-With-Flowers-Bunnies-And-Red-Dragons encountered in other AD&D games.

Still, there are some minor issues, because (as with nearly any Interplay game) the game is full of nasty bugs. I've for example encountered an infinite XP loop. Doh.

The game (as I've played it) is also somewhat lacking in its pace : for example, I have spend hours without any fight, only gaining XPs through character interaction, and next it looked like Diablo : monster, treasure, door (not that I doesn't like Diablo). I would have enjoyed a more balanced action. Also, I think some quests are too much rewarding : 90 000 XPs for a 3 minutes talk is a bit too much.

These are minor griefs, of course. PS:Torment is still one of the best "classic" RPG's I've played, on par with Fallout. "Classic" means it does not include "japanese-like" RPGs (Final Fantasy) nor "action"-RPGs (Diablo, Darkstone...).

No no that's fine. There were actually some people here with PS:T problems... anyone want to comment on whether they were fixed or not? It has always run flawlessly for me, and is an excellent DirectX game.
