Where would I find the 'autoexec.cfg' for Quake2? I just did a search and the only auto.cfg I have is for Half Life.

How would you go about increasing the gamma in Quake2 using the G400 Max. I Just upgraded to this card from a Voodoo 2 and now it is far to dark.

It would go in the q2\baseq2\autoexec.cfg

if you don't have one, just make one (also make one for each mod like CTF, and put it in that mod's folder)

I was wondering how you would tweak some of the settings in 'autoexec.cfg' For instance if you wanted it brighter or to remove some of the shadows in the background. I noticed that there is a lot more of a reddish hue than when I used to use a voodoo2.

The gl_modulate is essential. If you still think the game is too daark, up that. And don't forget to issue a 'vid_restart' after you change the value, otherwise it will only lighten the players but not the map (which is considered severe cheating in some Q2 mods).

'intensity' can also help a bit. Just play with these two and see the results.

If you think the colors don't looks right, you either overclock and see madly colored textures, or you are just not used to the true OpenGL. Remember that most of todays monitors allow you to create individual color temperature profiles and switch between them to make the image just right at all times.
Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.
