How do you figure out what is new in the drivers? Even after downloading the file, I can't tell (by looking at the Readme file) what the benefits of the new driver are.
Hi, just wanted to ask.
I never tried the previous betas. seemed they would only add problems.
But these look tempting.. many fixes and such forth, but are there any drawbacks?
do open GL games (Q3 mainly) still crash when exiting? and as i understand it, No turbo GL is needed anymore because the Incorporated ICD is much better and slightly faster anyway? Is all this true???
Windows XP Pro + SP1 - Pentium 4 3.1gig - 1024mg DDR 333 2 cas - Thermaltake Xaser Case - Parhelia 128 - 3x Phillips TFT Monitors - Audigy 2 Platinum - 6.1 surround speakers - RTx100 - 5 HD 7200rpm (420gig) - Pioneer A03 - Partridge in a pear tree
The OGL crashes on exit are fixed.
These betas are sweet (I've been using them for about a week now).
I am no longer using TGL for my Halflife or Q3 gaming, as the crashes are gone, and the full ICD is right up there speedwise.
The only reason anyone might still want to stay with older drivers is if they are on a SS7 mobo...even then, these new betas are worth a try...
Core2 Duo E7500 2.93, Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, 4gig 1066 DDR2, 1gig Asus ENGTS250, SB X-Fi Gamer ,WD Caviar Black 1tb, Plextor PX-880SA, Dual Samsung 2494s
The initial report sounds great ,but is there any insight as to when we might expect official drivers. I currently have no outstanding issues that would cause me to try a beta product.
Tribes truly runs decent now... just make sure you set it up as a generic OGL card. I manually enable palletized texturing though. Running a desktop at 16-bit will help a little also. This "was" the only game I own that ever really ran unacceptable on a g400.... no complaints here now.

Unfortunately, the new dirvers do NOT fix the z-buffer problems w/ games like UT, & Descent 3. I think it has something to do w/ the fact that these games are Glide based. But then again what do I know...
I've got a G200 and I can't get the drivers to work properly either. Basically what happened was, I decided to give it a shot first with UT in D3D. Well, the game started up fine, I started a practice session and recieved a most unpleasant suprise. I could see all of my bot teamates (ctf match in case anyone cares), the level however was a completely different matter. The entire level was black. weapons and such could be seen, but no walls, floors ceilings, nada. So, needless to say I've returned to 5.41.

P.S. I'm an SS7 user as well so that very well may have something to do with it.
