• Halflife crashes when comming out of D3D

Hi All.

Every since putting Win2k on halflife crashes (well blank screen) when I run it in D3D mode then quit after playing for a while. D3D works fine (better than software) but if I ESC to get back to the menu i get a blank screen, no hidden menu either (i.e clicking doesn't do anything) I'm running a G200 with the latest Beta Drivers. I can still alt tab out and close halflife, however this is an annoying pain.

My sys specs are:
AMD k6-2 450 @ 400 (Mobo won't take 450)
256mb SDRAM
G200 8mb
win2k final
TMC AVI5G+ MOBO
+ Other stuff

Any Help appreciated

Ash

Obviously you're using the beta drivers, which are:

beta;
not optimized for DX7
Also, I know that TGL has problems with SS7 boards (doesn't work), so if the W2K betas incorporate some of that code, that could be the problem as well.

I would suggest doing a forum search, because this sounds like a problem that would have come up before, and there might be a workaround posted.

Does everything else work all right? If not, then I would suggest posting an IRQ list with a description of any other problems you are encountering.

I suggest you run the game in OpenGL mode.
That's it's native API. It's faster, more stable, and looks better than D3D.
