  • New G200 owner

I have a C466@525 with an Abit m/b and a Guillemot Banshee video card. I just purchased a Matrox G200 8mb card. Will I get about the same performance out of the G200 as I have with the Banshee? I am getting about 45FPS (640x480)in Quake II and Sin. I think that the D3d games will be about equal but I don't know about the Opengl games. Thank you in advance for your responses.

Wow man old cards. Ummm I may be commiting treason here but mabye you should stick that banshee back in. But the best decision you can make is to benchmark the two and find out for yourself.

Definately stick with the banshee, the G200 cant come close to it. I'm using a G200 right now, but the main reason why is cus it's a Marvel and I got it for cheap.

Why in god's name would you replace an old card with an old card if you play games? Lay down some cash, and get a decent 3d card and see the true potential of your fairly decent processor.

I bought the G200 because I am building a PC for my grandsons and I needed a video card that could play the D3D games that they like to play such as Jedi Knight, Rogue Squadron,Shadows of the Empire, etc and I was just speculating on giving them the Banshee and keeping the G200. The Banshee was just an interim card for me because I am waiting on the next generation kick-ass card to upgrade my system. I am going to take your advice and keep the Banshee. I think the G200 will serve them well with the games that they like. I have seen benchmarks on the G200 with d3d games and it matches up pretty well with the voodoo2 and banshee. The card just does not do well with the Opengl games.
