HOW to get NFS 4 working properly on G400 DH?

I had a G200 and NFSHS worked fine in 800x600. Now it's impossible to run this game on G400 at a good speed! It just sucks!

Tried to reinstall NFS and the video drivers but, no go.

Anyone help?

My system is p3-450/128/22/G400/Win98SE.

3DSetup says that it's using "Direct3D Device 1".

The game seems to work but perfomance is damn baaad. Almost not playable.

Tried THREE different latest driver versions, and nothing helps.

[!] G200 worked fine.

Any suggestions?

The secret to getting any decent performance from a G400 in NFS4 is to turn off Fog. Secondly, remove as many of the special effects as you are willing to part with... you won't get persistent skid marks or sparks, but at least the frame rate will improve.

I know this sucks, but it was the only way I could get it to run decently.
