  • Quake3 + G400 + NT

Does anyone else have any problems running q3a under NT? I have a dual celeron (BP6) with NT, i installed the latest NT drivers and q3a won't play, i don't know whats wrong or what to do. I have Service Pack 6.
    Sigh

quake in nt4 will be pitifully slow, use win2k or linux if you want to play q3 in smp mode (which is currently slower than single cpu mode anyways)

i don't have win2k and i refuse to pay money for an operating system, i have been using (and loving) linux until about a week ago when my hard drive crashed...now i'm stuck with NT because my system is not terminated correctly without that drive...NT's drivers are weird, they will work under almost any circumstance, albeit with crappy performance...i was getting almost twice this framerate in linux before...
btw, SMP is not in the linux quake3 codebase yet...and yes SMP should be faster...i would install win98 and use it but my disc the my oem gave me is scratched from sitting on the floor for so long...

oh and i got q3 to work in NT, i installed the older drivers, that solved the problems, i get a horrible frame rate tho, 22fps under normal on a celeron 525 (two of 'em, but smp corrupts, drivers can't handle it)...

i can't wait for my hard drive to come back so i can get outa NT...
i'm a CS student and linux with emacs and gcc and gdb is the best development i've ever found...
