No, the G200 patch does not work for the G400. I just got another response from Matrox tech support saying that he had never heard of CeBit or that there was a patch for the G400. I asked if there were plans to write one several weeks ago and they said the development team was looking into it. I don't know if this matters, but they did pull it off of the website (game patches) for the G200. Good, Bad, Indifferent?

ItĀ“s not that IĀ“m whining, but I think that the Matrox guys could turn their attentions a little bit more on their gamers(us), like the Voodoo(ouch) guys do...
They could invest a little more in this area, that I think they are exploring more (with the Gx series).
I mean, this works in full circle, if the software companies notice the effort, they will respond by Matrox-optimizing their games more and more...

I too would love to see a patch for GPL, but I can't help wondering why they didn't make the game to work with directx in the first place? It would then work with every new card. Sure directx is not great but atleast it is compatable with virtuallly everything - or is that to bleeding obvious ?
I just ordered a G400Max to replace my G200 Mystique and now I find out I can't run GPL. I'm not a happy camper. JPL is one of the best wheeled simulators ever written and portrays a great time in Grand Prix racing when the driver was more important then the car - no wings or active suspension systems. Come on Matrox - write a patch.

Sciascia,
They did not remove the patch. If you look, they're archiving the patches by year. It's still there.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
oh I didn't look in the archive. It still isn't going to help. I just want a definite yes or no. I haven't played a damn game in 3 weeks. I am just so tired of not knowing. I'm stationed in Germany and had just gotten the game about 2 months ago and with my busy schedule I had very little time to play it. Maybe we should look to Papyrus for something. Doubt it since they already got the money, but who knows?

GPL is a smokin game. If they can make a turboGL driver for one game (and by default its offshoots), surely they can get a patch or tweak for another game popular with the racing sim crowd.
I'd love to play GPL with my G400!!! Do your very best, please.
Here is an answer I received from Sierra:
Sorry you are having difficulties with the product. Papyrus is working on
OpenGL support for TNT based cards and GPL. There is currently a beta patch
for GPL and the TNT cards at http://www.papy.com. Please keep in mind that
this is a beta patch and as such is not supported by Sierra. If you have any
difficulties using the patch, check the README.TXT file for more
information.
For me, it was simple. It was time to get a new PC. Got a nice box together and for the graphic card, there was a lot of choices. Voodoos... no way, ATI... it will never work!, TNT2s... uhmm..., well this G400 looks great... and on top of that, their working on a full OpenGL. GOOD, SOLD, $256 cumming up!
I set up my box, W98se, 5.30 drivers from the net, didn't even ran the original CD. Got GP2 running... wow... everything on and it's zooming. Lets try something thougher... Viper Racing, I use to get 23 fps... now 50+, It's about time! Ok, a though one... GPL... no go! Unhhh! What! NAAAAaaaaa! S__T! My favorite game... with the REAL Nurburgring! For the un-initiated; http://cbsgi1.bu.edu/bmw/nurbcgi.html The blue track is the original... the black track at the bottom of the pic is the pathetic thing we use today in the name of safety. Click on a section to view what I'm talking about.
I would be most appreciative if Matrox would create a patch so that GPL would work on the G400 cards. Nothing compares with the thrill of four wheel drift that GPL serves up. It is a true masterpiece in racing sims that we are all missing out on and would most greatful to be able to play again.
Here is my Vote:
Please release a patch that will allow G400 users to run GPL. After installing a Max in my new system, I didn't bother installing the V2 SLI setup that I had left over. The 4 games I run are: UT, Nascar 3, Q3, and GPL. The first 3 games were fine and then I realized that GPL can't run in accelerated mode with the G400. I messed around with the G200 patch, but no success. Back in with V2 SLI and everything is ducky. Unfortunatly, after installing the V2's, I found that Nascar 3 performs better in Glide than it does in D3D with the Max. What a pity, I have to give up the sharper graphics of the Max for the speed of the V2's.
