I thought it was a good review...i just wish he could've maybe reviewed it with some athlons or k6-2s/k6-3s other than that it was a GREAT review.

the review wasn't bad, but (and allow me to play devil's advocate for a moment) why did he not mention TNT2 cards or Voodoo3's? I mean, i can get a TNT card for $45, but a G400MAX DH card will run me at least $180..

If we are looking at upgrade paths, you can get TNT2 cards for ~$70, and voodoo3's for ~$110 (for a 3000), (so if you have $180 to blow, why not buy one of each? it's the same price...)

OK, off my soap box now.. I have an OEM g40032mb dh, and i love it.

One last errata about that article: the cinemaster engine DOES support multi-channel sound output, you just need to run dvd-genie to access the settings that enable it.

Some reviews can really get it wrong. The January edition of the mag Pc Pro had a P3 700 running a G400 Max, and it only managed Q3A @ 11 fps at 1024x768 32 bit, in a bench test with the latest ATI Maxx and a Geforce.

Even with trilinear textures and lightmap lighting, my P3 450, G400 Max setup manages 22.7 fps. Normal vertex bilinear 1024x768 32 bit (with everything set on high) it can do 39.7 on a good day :0) Just 3fps slower than a Creative Geforce on an identical (my brother's) machine.

I don't think they realised that Q3A was very well supported straight off the CD.
