  • The Sims and G400MAX....

Well I picked this game up this afternoon and it looks like Maxis has another winner on its hands, but the problem I have is that when ever I try to quit and save the game or change the tunes on the radio the game crashes out to the desktop....Anyone else having these problems? I looke over at the sims website and bbs and had no luck.

    Hi,

I have virtually the same system as you and are getting the same problems, Except I only have a DVD rom, I'm running win 98 on a 6.4 and Win2000 on a 3.2, SB live running the latest livewire software (its different that the one shipped with the CD) and a G400 MAX dual head! with a Abit BX6 MB and 256 MB ram, P3500.

There are a lot of people having problems with the sims just nice to see someone with my hardware! Maxis are not very helpfull to say the least! at the moment I think there are a number of problems G400 drivers are not stable with the sims in 98 or win2K also the SB live is causing all kinds of problems! In the Sims crashes at the same point as yourself, in Re-Volt crashes when cars hit a wall and seem to get the same WAV playing all over until you CTD. This didn't happen with the AWE64!

I am having issues with The Sims also, but my issues seem to be different from the both of you. Your problems could stem from a program called WinDVD or something like that. Supposedly this program conflicts with the game. Maxis recommends that you uninstall the program and The Sims should work fine. Also, if you are running your desktop in 32 bit color, you should change it to 16 bit color. Hope this helps.
