  • FF8 looks ugly on the map

Is anyone having the retail version of FF8
and G400 MAX have this problem:

When on the map, the frame rates drop down and it looks very crapy as i move around, is it my configuration or what?
because Q3A and UT run really smooth on my system.

    Thanks.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I believe this problem is due to the game company's programming. From what I've heard, even people with PIII 700s are having this problem. What I don't understand is why did FFVII run smoothly while FFVIII didn't.

I have the same problem (celery 366@550)

Also my music skips all the time, generally when I hold down a key long enough for the autorepeat to cut in, or when the drive is accessed.

It's a great game but I have to wonder how they managed to make the map screen so slow + blurry.

      Battles are silky smooth mind.

i get a transparency problem on the in game screens, i think it is a palette problem.
i get lots of black squares around 2D objects.

I thought the bleem! emulator was the only program that encountered this problem b/c I play the psx version on my computer and I encountered the same problems w/ the maps. I guess it's just like ff7, no modifications to enhance performance in the pc.

            [off topic gameplay question]
I have been taking my stupid pills again and I can't get the GF boost command to work.

i hold down 'S' and it pauses, instead of allowing me to boost the things with 'Z'.

            Anyone got any ideas?

Have you learned the boost ability with your GF, first?
The key to hold down is not 'S' but 'F'.

You can change the configuration of your keyboard too in the config.
