  • UT, new g200 drivers, HELP!

Ever since I installed 5.52 drivers UT does not work anymore. I can only see objects and light coronas, textures are pitch black.

I tried that multitexture=false trick in the ut.ini but it still does not help.

Please help? I'd rather not install the older drivers as these are somewhat quicker with less bugs in other programs.

One thing I've heard of is that the new D3Ddrv.dll that you can get from the UnrealTechnology page doesn't work. If you downloaded it try reverting back to the old one. I can't verify if this is true or not, I haven't actually tried it myself yet.

This problem seems to be quite common... i also have g200 w/new drivers but nothing goes wrong.. it might be because i closed pdesk.. try this

      1. click start, run
      2. msconfig
      3. go into startup tab
      4. deselect pdesk.exe

I am not sure that this will work though since i have not had the problem and dont know whats causing it.

There is a known problem with the combination of a G200, 5.52 drivers, Direct 3D and possibly VIA chipsets. It won't be fixed until the next driver release apparently. Until then, use the 5.41 drivers. They work fine with the above combination. That combo is what I'm typing this message on.

I had this same problem with a G200 8M, PII 350 256M, Abit BX6-rev2, Win98. I fixed it last nigth by clearing the registry entries at HKLM\Software\Matrox after uninstalling the 5.52 drivers.

See the details at Matrox's forum.
