  • Gamma in Quake & Quake2

    idGamma doesn't work for me somehow, so I'm having to brighten up my screen using Matrox Monitor Colour Control everytime before I enter a game.

    Is there a way I could make a shortcut to do that? Or is there a suggestions booth for the next PD release?

    Eww.
    There is an easier, less intrusive way to do it.
    Just add these lines to your autoexec.cfg for the game, and adjust their values as needed:

    set intensity "1.0"
    set vid_gamma "0.9"
    set gl_modulate "3.5"
    set gl_saturate "0"

    (these are Q2 commands...I don't know the equivalent commands for Q1)

      Idgamma does work. I use it.
      You have to delete all your "glquake" folders.
      For example /games/quake1/id1/glquake.
      This makes glquake rebuild the textures.

        Kruzin,
        GLQuake 1 does not have equivalent settings.
        That's why I use idgamma.

          What idGamma values do you use?
          It still somehow does not work for me.

          The values Kruzin suggested are a bit dark too. (If there was any difference :P) I'll keep trying. They do work for ActionQuake2 right?

            Assuming this was my last input to the program, here goes:

            Idgamma Version 1.3b
            Game = 1 (Quake 1)
            Intensity = 4
            Gamma = .6
            Allowsat = 1 (Allow No Saturation)
            fullbright = Y (Leave Fullbrights Alone)
