Hi Jp,

after I installed the retail W2k pro on my new system, I tried a couple of games out which all didnt work: System Shock2, Carmageddon2, NFS3.
If your into games I would wait a little until patches are released.

Well, System Shock 2 works fine on my system with the latest drivers. The only problem is the install routine - to force the setup program to install on W2K you have to run it with the -lgntforce flag.

eg: d:\setup.exe -lgntforce

IMHO W2K is much superior than Win98 - but I still have to dual boot due to the damn beta Hollywood+ drivers...

If you would like to try System Shock 2 on your Win2000 system, you will need to run the following command (from a DOS window or using the Run Program command):

Setup -lgntforce
Shock 2 may not run on Win2000 or WinNT due to incompatibilities between the SafeDisk copy protection and the OS. The patch should fix this issue though we do not officially support either Win2000 or WinNT.

Looks like you got your answer already, but for a great place to find nt/2000 compatibility, try this web page: www.ntcompatible.com
