The sims runs with no problems.

What have you done to try to fix the problem?

No problems here either, running in both Win98 SE and Win2000.

Well, Ive gone to EA's website, they recommended I added the line -w to my Sims shortcut, I tried it and that made it run in Windowed mode, it still crashed but this time it gives me an error, they have a patch that supposedly fixes the problem i have. but its only for WinDVD users and I dont have WinDVD and the patch doesnt do anyting. Ive tried reinstalling 3 times. Ive tried disabling my sound, Ive tried other Graphix drivers. Ive tried almost everything. Why in the world doesnt it run? I posted on the message boards at thesims.com but no one replied, someone posted a similiar message today as well, still no replies. This game looks really cool. I just wish I could get it to run!

Well, for starters, have you verified that you can copy the contents of the CD to your hard drive? This will verify that your CD-ROM drive can read the CD without a problem. I've been running the Sims with 5.50 and then 5.52 without any problem, so it's probably not a problem with your vid card. Did you try checking your sound card?

Before i had installed win2k, it worked great on win98se with the 5.30 (maybe 5.52 cant remember) drivers and on win2k with the 5.03 drivers it runs fine as well. I would suggest doing what targon said, normally that is a very good way to see that it isn't a problem with your cd rom drive

You say you tried several video drivers. Did you use the Matrox uninstaller between each version? Matrox drivers have to be fully removed before loading any new ones or you end up with problems like yours. I don't have the Sims yet, so I can't say this is the problem, but it sound like it could be.

Yup, I used the uninstaller. When I get back from school today I will test diffrent AGP Aperature settings as well. (Hey! It could happen!) But till then, keep throwing out ideas to me. Much appreciated

Why bother this game sucks. Its a gigapet you know those stupid electronic virtual pets....that beep when they need food or "love" and die when you don't feed them...

I have this game and its the exact same thing. BTW it works but its code is a mess

Return the game and forget about it. I played it straight for 3 days and got sick of it. How many times can you do the same thing over and over again before you get sick of it. Get up, goto work, eat, clean, study, talk to your neighbor. It's like the movie ground hog day. lol
