    Thanks for your answer Kruzin,
I'll compare it again at lower resolutions.
I heard that some people had great performance using PD5.52 with TGL1.3 on K7s

I will be upgrading my CPU to 550E soon, do you think that PD5.52 and TGL1.3 will work together and produce scores as high as ones with K7s?

    thanks

Coppermine scores should be comparable to similarly locked Athlons.

The new "unannounced" slot 1 550E's appear to be remarkable overclockers. Look at this:

This is just for your information. Now, I am *not* recommending that anyone does anything that Kyle does.

          Nevermind...I think I know what Kyle did after reading that he O/C a 550E Slot1 to 853Mhz...

I also changed motherboards to P3V4X and have the same problems as Sanjuro. I formatted the disks and installed win98se on one drive and win2000 on the other. I use the esc key at boot to pick the os. One thing I have noticed is that win98se installed with acpi (on its own). I only checked this after installing (agp & ide) of the 4 in 1 (version 4.17 on the Asus cd) as per via instructions.
Please check you systems and let me know if ACPI is enabled. I believe ACPI may be causing a performance loss because when I run system monitor it shows 40% cpu usage while idle. I ran 3dmark2000 in both win98+via4.17 (2697 3dmarks) and 2000 (2917 3dmarks). The detail results show cpu speed 167 in win98se and 210 in win2000. The fps in win2000 are higher by 10%.
One more point, before I reloaded win98se I tried out the P3V4X and managed to get a 3dmark score of 3091 which is where it should be. ACPI was not enabled and I had not loaded any via drivers. Win98se crashed and hung on shutdown however so I decided to format and reload.

Typically, this option is found in the BIOS.

Tell me if you find it. I figured my life just isn't complicated enough and bought the board this afternoon.

I believe Asus is using the Award BIOS. Check under Power Management Setup.

                        Hi Sanjuro,
I can't find ACPI setting in bios either, so it may not be there. You can tell if you have ACPI enabled by checking the system properties (right click my computer, select properties, device manager, and double click system devices). If you see ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) then it is enabled. If you see advanced power management then you have APM enabled instead. ACPI allows you system to suspend, standby, and perform instant on. In win2000 ACPI runs very well (in my experience).
Does anyone know if ACPI is the cause of poor performance in win98se? I noticed ACPI uses cpu cycles when the system is idle.
                        Thanks
                        David

Anyone have any idea when Matrox will have the P3V4X compatibilty issues fixed?

I don't care if the TGL is the same speed as the ICD. What I want is a MiniGL driver to overcome the Win98 restrictions on OpenGL when running multimonitor. And don't say turn off the other display, because I want it ON while I'm gaming.

                          Just my $0.02
