  • Bad Unreal Tournament performance in Windows 2000 (2195)

Well I got system shock 2 working and shogo is smooth as well except for
the sticky mouse keys. But unreal tounament took a big performance hit.
On the exact same system using win98 I was getting 38 fps at 1200 x 1024
16 all high detail. Now in Win2k at same rez and settings I get 20.
OUCH! I know I know Win2k is not a gaming OS but I Hope the UT
    performance gets better.

Try the 5.01 drivers. They work better for me.

I'm using the 5.03 drivers along with the optional UT .dlls and UT is smoother for me under Win2k than Win98se with the same detail settings.
My fricking machine is still waiting for (yet another) Case/Powersupply, but when I get anything running I'll get you some fps comaparisions.

Im running the latest Win2k Matrox drivers and with everything set to "medium", decals off, and in 1024x768, I get anywhere from 52-58fps in UT. This is the average FPS of me playing against 6 bots for 30 mins.

I am running Win2K most of the time. Recently my screen turns all garbled. And when I exit the game, the garbled display affects my desktop until I reboot. Does anyone know what this could be? I have 5.03 drivers. I play only on the net. I have the 405 patch for UT and the bonus back. Any ideas?

Rather than rebooting, try just logging off. Practice it a couple of times just in case you can't see the dialogue box. Worked for me with the previous drivers, but the problem disappeared with the 5.03 drivers.

                DarkSyd,

Yes I've tried re-logging on. Same thing. I have the 5.03 drivers and removed and reinstalled both driver and game. Should I try previous drivers like 5.01? Thanks for getting back to me.
