  • Star Trek: Armada.... Opinions?

    Hey,

This game has gone gold and should be released very soon. Oddly I don't hear many people talking about it. Aside from the fact that the game just sounds and looks cool... this will be the first game (for me at least) to utilize DualHead.

Is anyone else excited as me? Or am I alone?

here's matrox's page about the dual head:

I've been pumped on this game for months!
It's definatly on top of my MUST GET list.
I've been sorely disappointed in the past Trek sims, being limited to only 2d navigation. May as well play Warcraft. That's why I liked Homeworld so much. Actual 3d navigation in space. ST:Armada is supposed to be this way. And the use of DualHead on a game like this should kick total arse!

Of course, r0m has been baiting me for months, telling me how great it's been looking throughout development...so I'm sure that's added to my anticipation .

Can't wait for it to hit the shelves!

          Hey,

I tried to download it around 8pm and was getting 1kb/s. I stopped and started it right before i went to bed (1am) and noticed it was at 5.5k/s. Only took two hours then.

First thing i watched when I woke up. I was like, "Holy shit!". This is better than any star trek or star wars than I have ever seen. The CGI is awesome. They use the real voices of Patrick Stewart, Michael Dorn, and Denise Crosby.

I woke up my roommate to see it and his jaw dropped. He was like, "When does that movie come out? I want to see it now."

Only thing is.. you can't change the resolution. It's kinda small at 1024x768. So make sure to go down to 640x480 to watch it. It still rocks.

          HIGHLY SUGGESTED.

This game is sooooo gonna rock.

all I know is that I may actually quit starcraft and go to Armada! Yeah Baby. Actually there is this third party company that has a Star Trek: Dominion Wars conversion for Starcraft. They aren't ready yet, but from the screen shots, it's pretty promising. If any are interested on the web site, just get back to me.
