...errr, it's that magic time once a month when half the population sprout horns, start breathing fire, and want to de-masculate the other half of the population.
Oh my! I'm in hot water now!

If I have DH multi-display enabled, will I reclaim all 32MB for game use if I just uncheck the "extend windows desktop to 2nd monitor" box?
Or do I have to go to advanced/Dualhead and disable DH + reboot?

You have to turn off MultiMonitor and REBOOT to get back to one 32MB card. Turning off the second monitor in the display control panel just convinces Winblows 9x that it has only one display adapter, and can therefore run hardware OpenGL.

Armada's cool in DH mode. And since the G400MAX seems fine in 16bit, I'm leaving it in DH mode for the time being.

Just my $0.02

I bet you meant working with 16Mb? Whether or not you run it in DH @16bit, or DH @32bit, doesn't matter on the amount of cardmemory you use at that moment. Let's say it's sufficient

I've got a marvel g400 and didn't know that about vidmem being split under extended display mode. I usually play Q3 and never thought twice about this TV sapping my memory. would turning off the extended setting and rebooting give me a better framerate?

BTW I'm getting a mere 29fps in Demo001:
*P2-266
*128MB RAM
*hell, MB doesn't matter

This is quiet odd. When i run UT with second monitor on i get much worse framerates and performace than when i just uncheck "extend desktop" WITHOUT rebooting.
Why do i get better FPS without rebooting if the CPU isnt reclaiming the extra 16megs?

Thanx!

of course the best way to get dual mon is to use a marvel g400 and a voodoo3 (or a geforce) because both of them spank the g400 cards in FPS... (but the g400s look a little better, unless you have a geforce t&l enabled game but how many of those are there?)

Uhhhh oh!
Not a smart reply. I will start.
WHAT GEFORCE COMES IN PCI FORMAT?! WHAT G400 COMES IN PCI FORMAT?! WHAT MOTHERBOARD HAVE YOU SEEN THAT HAS TWO AGP SLOTS?!

NONE OF THE ABOVE!
So how do you propose i run a system with a G400 Marvel AND a GeForce. And why does T&L make the GeForce look better as a card? They look the same as without T&L, only the game runs at higher FPS on slow systems.
The G400 spanks the GeForce(and every other card) in striaght visual quality. Anything that looks good with t&l on, looks just as good with it off. Uhhh Whatever...

Anyways. Back on topic... Why does my system run better, even if i only disable the second monitor. I dont restart, so why DOES it do better? Its not getting the mem back? Thanx, just trying to understand.
