  • q3a, an Athlon and a G400

Did you installed the latest 5.04 drivers? Are you running in 16 or 32 bpp desktop mode? Did you reinstall Q3 in win2k or are you just running the exe from the win98 install?

And make sure that TGL is not installed in your Q3 directory (opengl32.dll).

      q3a, an Athlon and a G400

hi, ive just upgraded to win2k and have a dual boot system setup with 98SE, but would like to eventually go full w2k...my probs is q3a just wont run in W2K (schweet in 98se :-)!! it plays the main movie, and when it goes to the main screen with the options it just hangs!! big time!
      tried just about everything...

      ive got the following setup:

      - Athlon 600
      - Legend PC133MHZ 128MB ram running @ 100MHZ
      - Epox K7-XXA mobo (Bios flashed but NOT running VIA 4 in 1 service pack)
      - Matrox Mill. G400 32MB OEM single head (driver version 5.03 for W2K)
      - SB Live! value sound card (latest w2k driver)
      - Seagate 5400RPM 13GB HD
      - Aopen DVD 10X, 40X
      - Acer 32 x 4 x 4 CD-RW
      - Iomega Internal Zip
      - W2K and W98 dual boot

      thanks in advance

yes ive installed the 5.04 drivers, but how come its not released on the Matrox site? is it a hacked 5.03 driver?

anywho, 5.04 crashed it even further...:-(

its strange, half life dosent play either, nor does Kingpin. The only game ive managed to play without a glitch is Hidden and Dangerous, that game just "glides" through W2K with no problems @ all :-)...not that im a big fan of the game, but atleast i know that my box is capable of plaayin somethin!

think im goin back to 98SE..which kinda suck.

What about TurboGL? If there is an OpenGL32.dll in the game directory you must move it somewhere.

I think the answer is the older drivers. Try the 5.00 or 5.01 drivers. The crash you mention is exactly what you get in win98 with the newest (5.52) drivers. You have to get the 5.41 g400icd.dll in order for it to work.
