  • F1 2000 performance/graphics problems

With 1024x768 and 16bit (now I know why they don't allow higher resolutions and higher colors), I get about 5 frames/sec when the race begins. And that with smoke turned off and other options set to minimal. Even on 800x600, the start is choppy. Can't be my G400 (newest drivers) with PIII 600, can it? And the graphics are not even good: bad quality textures, everything which is in shadow simply is black and the trees are horribly pixelated. Anyone with the same experience?

Yes! It's the same experience I'm having!

And my system is even more powerful. But it still, more or less, freezes at startup.
    I see a patch coming!

I too think the texturing is dark & dull. Especially compared to SuperBike 2000. Now that's a pretty game (but not as funny)

Hey, sure, not a problem. After all, it isn´t that hard to go back and delete all the posts, is it?

I have a P3-550 and a G400 Marvel (16MB) and it runs at very high frame rates when there are only a few cars on the track as when i am i testing mode (and all settings are at max). It's only when there are lots of cars in the vicinity it slows down and becomes more or less impossible to play (and avoiding a spin is very difficult with 3-5 fps). When playing a race (with 22 cars) i set the graphics for those cars down to minimum (of course setting down the texture quality of those cars affects the entire 3D-world too).

Personally I'm very much looking forward to some of the soon-to-come GFX-cards with 64/128MB of memory from NVidia (I'm not loyal to any hardware-manufacturers but always go for the best... most of the time).

          Regards

          MY COMPUTER SPECS:

          36GB Disk Capacity
          Marvel G400
          And a nice roomy 19"!!!

F1 2000 does that slowdown also with a GeForce card. Not with just G400s. Don't worry.

It's a pain in the arse to start racing when framerate drops below 10 even with low detail settings. Optimizations EA? Anyone? Maybe next year then with F1 2001

                  Guy's,

                  Run it in a window.

Had the same problem with my PIII500 and Marvel G400, i can at least play the game with everything on now at 800x600 and it looks really nice.
