  • Turbo GL does not work in Quake 3

    I am using the 5.41 drivers for a G400 dualhead 32 MB on a Soyo 6VBA 133 with a 500E and 192MB RAM.

I can play Quake 3 provided I do not load the Turbo GL drivers. If I load them I get a lockup at a white screen.

Does anyone have this configuration with TurboGL working...any tips?

    Thanks

You should use a driver revision 5.50 or higher. Im these releases, the ICD has about the same performance as the TurboGL.

Result: you dont need the TurboGL.

TurboGL v1.30 works only if you are using drivers v5.52 !!
Yea, even with beta v5.50 I had permanently lockups.

      PERFORMANCE :
The performance gain depends which processor
      you are using.

On my Athlon system there IS a performance
      difference between TurboGL 1.30 and
      vanilla v5.52 ICD OpenGL drivers.

On a Celery I expect there will be no performance gain since it doesn`t
      have 3Dnow or SSE.

There is a setting in your system BIOS called the "AGP Apeture" which you should set to "256"

          Ewwww... VIA chipset. Ewwwww!

Yeah, I have the same type of AGP implementation in my mainboard, too - an Asus P3V4X.

Since supposedly ALL VIA AGP implementations use the SAME Winblows 9x AGP driver, I'll submit how I was able to get TGL to work:

          - Use PD 5.30
          - Use AGP driver 4.20 (4.00 rev)
          - Use TGL 1.3 *NOTE* You'll have to install TGL 1.3 BEFORE reverting back to PD 5.30.

With that combination, TGL 1.3 should work fine.

          Just my $0.02

            Thanks for the input.

Sharkie, My BIOS only has aperature to 128. I know Matrox says to use 256.

Icestorm, do you mean I need to install powerdesk 5.5X to get TGL 1.3 and then install 5.3?
